Which of the 41 Super Bowl-winning teams is the best team of all time? Today SportSims.net revealed the Champion of Champions in the second Super Bowl Champions Tournament.
Each team, from the 1966 Green Bay Packers to the 2007 Indianapolis Colts, was seeded and placed in a bracket. After simulating each matchup, the 1985 Chicago Bears and the 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers played each other in the final contest. By a score of 31-24, the ’79 Steelers were named the Champion of Champions.
Quarterback Terry Bradshaw led his Super Bowl Champion ‘79 Steelers by completing 18 out of 24 for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Franco Harris led in rushing with 86 yards and two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. The Steelers defense was led John Banaszak with 10 tackles and three sacks. The runner-up ’85 Bears’ quarterback Jim McMahon completed 24 of 37 for 423 yards and three touchdowns. Walter Payton led in rushing with 14 rushes for 63 yards. All three of the Bears touchdowns were accomplished through the air with receptions made by Ken Margerum, James Maness, and Dennis Gentry.
