SportSims.net's Mock Draft, Picks 25 - 32

04/23/2009

Who should the Lions select with the first overall pick? Want to know where Michael Crabtree will be the best fit? SportSims.net, an online dynasty football franchise simulation, used their simulation's intricate draft routines to determine what the Lions, and other top teams, should select this weekend in the 2009 NFL Draft.

SportSims.net’s draft routines analyzed each team's Roster and used other factors like what GamePlan the team is running to create each team's DraftPlan, a prioritized list of the team's draft needs. Because of the draft's “human element,” this Mock Draft is not a prediction of what each team will actually take, but a recommendation of what should be drafted based on each team’s current needs using the DraftPlan Generator used in SportSims.net’s Live Draft.

Pick 25: Miami - CB - Darius Butler, Connecticut. The Dolphins roster is stabilized under Bill Parcells. Now it is time for them to add playmakers.

Pick 26: Baltimore - WR - Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland. His speed, teamed with Joe Flacco's arm, should give the Ravens' offense the punch it has lacked for years.

Pick 27: Indianapolis - DT - Fili Moala, USC. The Colts need a strong presence in the middle of their defense; Moala fills the bill and will get some sacks as well.

Pick 28: Buffalo - TE - Jared Cook, South Carolina. While a replacement is still needed at LT for Jason Peters, no OT warrants this pick. Cook will provide the Bills with a good target over the middle.

Pick 29: New York - WR - Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina. Nicks will provide the Giants with the big WR they need to make their passing game work since the loss of Plaxico Burress.

Pick 30: Tennessee - DL - Robert Ayers, Tennessee. Titans' Coach Fisher won't turn down one of the best chances to replace Albert Haynesworth...and he does not have to leave the state to do it.

Pick 31: Arizona - RB - Donald Brown, Connecticut. The Cardinals high-powered offense gets more firepower. Brown is very capable carrying the load as a feature back.

Pick 32: Pittsburgh - C - Antoine Caldwell, Alabama. The Steelers offense starts up front and Caldwell fits the mold of a Steelers' lineman.
